HEAT WAVE

Muscle shirt, sunnies, and shoes: Target; Denim vest: thrifted; Sparrow necklace: eBay; Bandana: vintage

Why HELLOOOOO blogosphere it has certainly been a long time since we've seen one another! I can explain guys.....summer is hot and I'm lazy. Also, I have a job and am in the marching band. SERIOUSLY THOUGH THIS HEAT IS INSANE. I'm sitting in the loft of my nice air conditioned house awaiting the next moment when I have to step outside. Even taking these pictures this morning nearly suffocated me. That being said, I'm attempting to remain fashionable while wearing as little clothing as possible. I scored this tiger muscle shirt for 50% off at Target yesterday, and it makes me feel like I'm in the circus. I've also practically been living in these shorts. They're cozy and cotton and don't give me a muffin top. I could use some new black shorts though, but for some reason all the money I make keeps disappearing the second I get paid! *Cough* shopaholic *cough*. Anywho, these sunnies are also new. EXCEPT THEY BROKE THE THIRD DAY OF OWNING THEM. Thankfully super glue fixes all, but it still is frustrating.

In other news, tonight is the annual July 3rd street fair in my town to celebrate the 4th. I'll be hittin' that up with my pals later on, hoping beyond all meaning of the word that it will cool down a little by then so I won't be a sweaty pig by the end of the night. But as you well know, there's probably very little chance of preventing that.

Probably more importantly than any of the aforementioned things, however, is that last week I made a mad dash to AMC in order to see the movie Brave and OHMYGOODNESS I'm kind of obsessed with it now. For those who don't know, Brave is the first Pixar movie to feature a female lead, is one of the only Disney princess movies in which the princess doesn't meet her prince charming by the end, and is an animation revolution by way of Princess Merida's hair. Merida has now dethroned Jasmine and claimed her rightful title as "Charlie's Favorite Disney Princess." So much so that when I got home from the theater, I went to the Disney Store website and, like a little girl with her Christmas money, bought this:

If you're new to my blog then I guess I should inform you that I have an insane obsession with dolls, particularly dolls of my favorite movie characters. (now we know where that money I mentioned earlier keeps disappearing to, eh?) I'm now ecstatically waiting for her to arrive so that my friend Dani (who owns the Mulan doll) and I can have a Disney Princess Doll photoshoot. Pictures will be posted.

Well now that you all have gotten a clear glimpse of the 6 year old in me, I'll leave you with some badass bathroom photos of me pretending to be a model so you'll remember that I actually am 16

Polka dots and why the swimsuit industry is discriminatory toward big busted women

..........Oh no wait that's for a different post

Anyway so um hi there I like stuff with polka dots and these are my favorite polka dot items that I own bye the end.

In light of my polka dot revolution, I have a severe desire to obtain this swimsuit for summer:

Or you know if that doesn't work I could always just get this one, simply because it's fucking awesome:

See you at the beach!

Being back and how sweet it is

MISS ME?
Top and pants: from Isabel, Beret: H&M, Scarf: gift from Dad, FOMS (fake TOMS): Heartbreaker

So I had Maddie take my outfit photos today, therefore I also took a picture of her so you can all see for the kajillionth time what my best friend looks like. When I asked her if I could take her picture for the blog she replied with "Oh so all those fashion-ey people can see my ratchet-sweatpants-Jesus look?" Yes, my dear, those fabulous outfit descriptions are precisely why I want to feature you :) For the record though she really does have great style, there are plenty of awesome pieces I've worn in these posts that have been borrowed from her closet, she just succumbs to the general high school laziness that every functioning teenager is afflicted with on a daily basis. Either way, she still looks cute!

Now that the musical is over (it went awesomely, by the way!) I finally have all this free time on my hands. I'm going to spend time studying for my AP exam (it's on the 17th!), practicing for my driver's test, spending time with my friends, and rekindling my creative brain. AHHH SUMMER HOW I LONG FOR THEE! It'll be here soon.

In other news, in a week or so I'll either be cutting my hair like this:

Or like Kate Micucci of Garfunkel&Oates/Raising Hope/Scrubs fame:

I tried the whole long hair thing this year, partially because it's easier as an actress to get roles with longer hair but mostly just because I haven't been bothered to cut it, and I've learned that it simply is not for me. I'll always be a short hair girl, and it's time to return to those ways. When I'm off to college and won't be acting as much I'll go full-out pixie cut, but right now I need at least a little bit of curlable length. Expect plenty of photos!

ALSO, more excitement, I've recently been informed that my school's band will be taking our next trip this coming October and guess where it'll be? Boston and NEW YORK!! Unfortunately, being that it's this fall rather than next summer which we expected, that doesn't give us much time to raise funds. I'm going to try to go out job-hunting on Saturday to start making money, and I'll hopefully be working at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival starting in August! Ahh, the rest of this year is looking great! I guess there is a huge plus-side to the trip timing, I get to visit the Empire State before the world ends! ;D

Peace kids, it's great to be back

Lowly Saturdays with Nowhere to Go

BWAHAHAHA DO YOU PEOPLE REALLY THINK THAT I ACTUALLY HAVE THE ENERGY AFTER SCHOOL TO SET UP MY TRIPOD ANYMORE?

Top: Kohl's, Hair flower: gift, Skirt: thrifted, Belt: H&M, Ankh necklace: Minnesota Renaissance Festival, Combat boots: thrifted

Hey all! Happy belated Valentine's Day! Was love in the air for you this week? I came home after school on Monday to this wonderful surprise waiting for me:

From Mr. Samuel, we named the bear Bilbo and he lives on my bed currently <3

Well despite that, I think up here in the Twin Cities we're all suffering a bit from seasonal disorder. The weather is extraordinarily fluctuating, snowstorm one day and 50 degree sun the next. I try to keep myself entertained as best I can, my attention span somewhat requires that I be running around doing things consistently during the daylight hours. But I won't put on a tough face for you guys, seeing as this is my blog and I get all my complaining out on here so I'm not a sour puss with my friends. SCHOOL IS HAAAARD DX. Chemistry is progressively getting more and more difficult, it's safe to say that math is not my strong suit. But now I've got meself a three day weekend! I best enjoy it :D Hopefully I'll be going on a thrifting extravaganza later today with my bestie, and go on a prance with myself if the weather permits (prance = a walk with excessive twirling and skipping along the street). Nevertheless, I have made time for tea parties with my Hello Kitty dolls, which is always a stress reliever:

But I think I've yet to tell you guys I'm in another musical for this spring, and guess what we're doing??? LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS!

For those who are unfamiliar with the show, it centers on poor, nerdy Seymour, who is employed at a business-deserted flower shop on the sad and dirty streets of a dark place called Skid Row. There he works alongside girl-of-his dreams Audrey, a ditzy but sweet flower arranger with heart-wrenchingly low self-esteem and an abusive dentist boyfriend. Right as it seems that the shop will have to go out of business, Seymour discovers a strange little plant during a total eclipse and promptly puts it in the window display (naming it Audrey II after the woman he secretly adores). The plant immediately begins attracting a slew of customers to the little shop, and Seymour becomes its caretaker. However, water and plant food seem to have no effect on the strange fly-trap like Audrey II, and Seymour is ordered to find out what keeps it alive. After an incident involving the cutting of his finger, he is quick to learn that what the little plant feeds on is human blood. He decides that in order to keep his job he will be the provider of its food, and lets the plant drink from his own finger. Audrey II begins to grow, though, and soon becomes a deep-voiced, R&B singing human-trap who claims that he will only be satisfied if Seymour finds him people to eat. The show quickly becomes a fast-paced, cartoony, dark-comedy with hilarious dialogue and wild numbers. The movie is available on netflix and I would highly recommend it!

In the show I am an ensemble member overall, but also play a dental assistant, a backup dancer to the sadistic dentist Orin, Audrey's abusive boyfriend, who became a dentist specifically so that he could cause people pain. We've started work on it for a few weeks now, and I'm very excited for it all to come together over the next two months.

That's all I've really got, it's a nice looking day out and I think I'll head outside.

Peace, yo

Fair Isle>Denim

Fair Isle Sweater: thrifted, Beret: H&M, Jeans: H&M, Combat Boots: thrifted

This week is Fire and Ice Spirit Week at our school, and the senior board that decides the dress-up days must lack some severe creativity genes because guess what today was? DENIM DAY. Fun right? Wear some jeans, and if you're feeling extra adventurous maybe throw in a nice denim jacket. So I wore some jeans, yes, as the rest of the student body and I have a tendency to do 4/5 days a week. But I also threw on this amazing Fair Isle sweater that I thrifted at Value Village on a recent excursion, because I was feeling extra rebellious. But nobody can say I don't have school spirit, because, alas, I am wearing denim on my legs! The best of both worlds, not to mention I was insanely warm in my subzero classrooms. So yep. Oh yeah, and sorry for not posting any outfits in over a month. I haven't been dressing too well due to stress and, well, general high school student laziness. Hopefully I'll be inspired to get back into my usual routine. I haven't been totally consumed by school though, I've had some time to let my artistic nature shine:

Some recent paintings, I got a lot of new colors for Christmas and have been having lots of fun with them.

Oh yes, and don't forget to keep checking out and following my Tumblr

Back to school, but the dawn of a New Year

Cardigan: Target, Shorts: Old Navy, Tights: Forever 21, Beret: H&M, Peacock feather headband: gift, Ring: gift, Combat boots: thrifted

Don't know if I'll be dressing like this any more this week. I haven't been feeling too well as of late, and after lunch I was completely konking out. Not to mention that my school really does NOT know that the classrooms need to be at least a moderately comfortable temperature for its students to function properly, as opposed to curling into balls, teeth chattering, praying to whatever higher power they worship that they'll survive until the next period. I guess what I'm trying to say is that tomorrow I'm going to school with a big sweater and a cup of joe, so don't expect anything special. Happy back-to-school! (And one of these days I'll get around to talking more about my life rather than just describing what I'm wearing, why I'm wearing it, and complaining about the weather).

G'night Chaps.

An 80s sweater and 60s glasses

Sweater: Ragstock, Lennon sunglasses: gift, Pants: Old Navy, Combat boots: thrifted

Kind of a long leave of absence on my part, I apologize. Ha, and remember me saying that I would post more frequently since it was break? And on my LAST DAY of break I finally getting around to putting up an outfit (which I wore last week, mind you). Ah winter laziness. Funny thing is, we didn't get any snow until New Year's Eve! Crazy, you must know by now that I live in Minnesota, and if you're at all familiar with the climates of various regions of the United States it's pretty clear that we live in by far the snowiest and coldest place in the continental US (I said CONTINENTAL, I didn't forget you Alaskans). So yeah, it all came down on New Year's and as soon as the clock struck midnight my friends and I flew outside and danced in the snow (I was barefoot of course). Speaking of which, Happy 2012! I can already feel a shift in vibes and I can tell this'll be a good one! Oh, and Merry Belated Christmas! Get anything cool?? Why yes I did, thank you for asking! Here are a few of my favorites:
  • AN IPOD TOUCH!
  • A black cloche hat (which I've been wanting for ages!)
  • The sunglasses featured in this post
  • An art book that offers peeks into various artists' sketchbooks
  • Lots of journals
  • The book Eat, Pray, Love
  • A "Starving Artist" plate, which I have a picture of me holding in a previous post
  • And a few more fun little doodads!
Well, back to school tomorrow anyhow. If only this break could last forever. At least it was awakening for the soul, and I'm prepared to face the endless bores of sophomore year once again. Have a fantastic first week of the year!

Currently watching the Glee Christmas special.....

Alligator shirt: from Maddie, Beret: H&M, Scarf: thrifted, Pants: Old Navy, Foxtail: Minnesota Rennaisance Festival, Shoes: Chuck Taylor, Sunglasses: DIY

Sorry I haven't been posting as often, I'm crazy busy with school, theatre, and Christmas related things. I'll try to post more over winter break (though I can't guarantee I'll be dressing very well, hehe). Other than that I don't have too much to say, have a good final few days of school!

Oh yeah, I'm also going on a field trip to see Les Mis on Thursday! I love being an honors English student.

I need to buy some new fashion reading material, I'm unable to read blogs in class

I'd like to say I've always been the creative type. I also have always been the type to enjoy pouring my heart into the ears of other people. Well, I guess in this case, the eyes. Making websites and blogs has always been a fun outlet of expression for me, and I hope to continue to keep up this blog as long as I'm still dressing weird and kickin' up words. Lately, though, I've been slightly stressed over HoneyDew. It doesn't feel like the layout really suits my rapidly changing personality anymore, and if I'm being represented online by this thing I want it to 100% represent who I am. That being said, I whipped up a few new logos on Photoshop recently and when I get the time (blah it's soooooo hard with theatre and school!) I'll hopefully be able to remodel! Let me know if you have any ideas that you think would be cool for me to try. Oh, also, I'm ashamed to say that I'm caving in and conforming to the blogosphere. Yes, that's right, after being completely and utterly obsessed with scanning through Tumblrs and saving every picture I find appealing, I hope to be creating one of those soon too. Agh!! Look at me! Soon I'll have a Twitter too! No......willpower.......I'll just keep telling myself that I need way more than 160 characters to express my thoughts. (Thank you, Blogger, for giving me limitless power!! MWAHAHAHA!!!)

Anywho, pictures!

Considering that as of right now 4/5 days of my school week I leave when it's still dark and get home when it's dark, you may regrettably be getting quite a few mirror pictures. (Explanation: I'm too much of a chicken to take them at school and there's no good place in my house to set up a tripod) Oh well, it's the clothes that count, right?

Dress: Delia's, Top: H&M, Black skirt: thrifted, Hair clip: gift, Scarf: gift from my dad, Necklace: Etsy, Combat boots: thrifted

(Hahahahahaha I asked my mom to take this picture in the morning before I went to school. It's tiny and the flash lets you see right through my shirt to the dress underneath. Oh well, thought I may as well include it!)

My closet is exploding yet I have nothing to wear

I am in the midst of a style rut, my friends. I desperately desire to loose myself within the depths of Value Village and seize all of their kookiest items in hopes that it would cure me of this fatal disease. Alas, though, I am but a jobless fifteen year old living from the scraps of her babysitting money.

I know, I know. Silly me. There are plenty more imporant things than fashion that I should be concerning myself with at the moment(Like.....um.....school, maybe?), yet I just can't help but losing myself in frivolous occupations. They do say though that the better you look, the better you feel. True story bro.

Anywho.....um....pics!

Bandana: vintage, Scarf: thrifted, Shirt: thrifted, Skirt: Target, Leggings: Old Navy, Leg warmers: gift, Combat boots: thrifted

Oh by the way, I got into the One Act again this year!(yay! theatre!)

Also, I checked this book out from the library today and I'm frickin excited to read it cover to cover!

(sorry for the sideways)

One more thing, have you witnessed Herman Cain's latest interview about Libya? These people make me sad. Yet they're so funny.

HA!
