So I basically hate blogger now because of this. Since I've already built up a base here, however, it's hard to pick up and move to a new hosting website. I guess I don't know much about blogger, and I haven't really taken the time to look into the whole struggle so I'm not entirely sure if there's a way to do this without paying. Oh! Yes! I didn't even tell you the story yet. Essentially, I filled up my picasa memory (picasa is the picture hosting site, yada yada yada) and now I can't post any pictures without either (to my knowledge):
A. Paying for more storage
or
B. Deleting old photos from picasa, which, yes, would delete them from my blog
Since the latter just doesn't resonate well with me, because I believe I have some really good old stuff in the archives, right now it appears my only option is A. Does anyone know a free fix to this?? If not that's fine, I think its only 5 or so dollars and I'll hopefully purchase the storage and be back up and running in no time (don't worry, I have plenty outfits-of-the day waiting to be uploaded) but it would be nice not to have to spend any money, regardless of how cheap it is. So if you know another way let me know, and if there is no other way then I'll try and be back up and blogging by spring break, which is next week. Thanks for putting up with this shenanigans. I'm so glad I haven't lost any followers through all this. And spring is coming too, and I always get more creative in the warmer months. Be prepared for a return of the Charlie at any moment!

Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY HONEYDEW!!!!
Of course back then it was called A Clockwork Mermaid, but it was still my blog and I totally just realized that on this day 1 year ago it was born! I began it as a follow-up to a blogging project that I had begun on LiveJournal but wanted to take to a bigger audience. Surprisingly, it didn't start as a fashion blog, but more a random dump for my interests. It slowly evolved into a fashion blog as my interest in fashion began to evolve and I realized that I was putting together some really great outfits that I wanted to showcase to people outside of the not-too-stylish-ugg-wearing-folk that inhabit my high school. Anyway, the readership has grown immensely in that year and my talents as a blogger have as well. Thanks to everyone who reads this little hobby of mine, here's to hopefully many more years in the blogosphere!

I need to buy some new fashion reading material, I'm unable to read blogs in class
I'd like to say I've always been the creative type. I also have always been the type to enjoy pouring my heart into the ears of other people. Well, I guess in this case, the eyes. Making websites and blogs has always been a fun outlet of expression for me, and I hope to continue to keep up this blog as long as I'm still dressing weird and kickin' up words. Lately, though, I've been slightly stressed over HoneyDew. It doesn't feel like the layout really suits my rapidly changing personality anymore, and if I'm being represented online by this thing I want it to 100% represent who I am. That being said, I whipped up a few new logos on Photoshop recently and when I get the time (blah it's soooooo hard with theatre and school!) I'll hopefully be able to remodel! Let me know if you have any ideas that you think would be cool for me to try. Oh, also, I'm ashamed to say that I'm caving in and conforming to the blogosphere. Yes, that's right, after being completely and utterly obsessed with scanning through Tumblrs and saving every picture I find appealing, I hope to be creating one of those soon too. Agh!! Look at me! Soon I'll have a Twitter too! No......willpower.......I'll just keep telling myself that I need way more than 160 characters to express my thoughts. (Thank you, Blogger, for giving me limitless power!! MWAHAHAHA!!!)
Anywho, pictures!
Anywho, pictures!
Considering that as of right now 4/5 days of my school week I leave when it's still dark and get home when it's dark, you may regrettably be getting quite a few mirror pictures. (Explanation: I'm too much of a chicken to take them at school and there's no good place in my house to set up a tripod) Oh well, it's the clothes that count, right?
Dress: Delia's, Top: H&M, Black skirt: thrifted, Hair clip: gift, Scarf: gift from my dad, Necklace: Etsy, Combat boots: thrifted
(Hahahahahaha I asked my mom to take this picture in the morning before I went to school. It's tiny and the flash lets you see right through my shirt to the dress underneath. Oh well, thought I may as well include it!)

This Post Has No Purpose
Apologies for going M.I.A. as of recently. Winter hit here for a few days, then disappeared. Other than that, though, I had a swell thanksgiving complete with too much pie and me whining about not having anybody to take me Black Friday shopping at H&M. Unfortunately, because of Thanksgiving break, I've been rather slacking on my outfits so I've got nothing for you guys right now. Actually, despite what the title says, this post DOES have a purpose. That purpose being that I realized today that I hadn't yet claimed my blog on Bloglovin' and decided that I should probably get on that and hopefully get some followers on there as well. Alright, here goes:
<a href="http://www.bloglovin.com/blog/3048140/honeydew?claim=mzryfejc3rt">Follow my blog with Bloglovin</a>
Hurray! Now will it work? I guess we'll have to wait to find out. Seeing as this post was rather boring and purposeless(again, there I go saying it has no purpose!) I would hate for someone to think it's part of my usual work. So....umm.....here's some music!

Oh yeah, I also saw the Descendants yesterday!
OH MY GOD IT WAS GOOD.
It was like a personal soul quest for me within a film.
Go see it.
Bye now.
I'll post more fashion soon.
Hopefully.

Here's to starting the school week on a tuesday
Tank dress: thrifted, Beret: H&M, Scarf: gift from my dad, Jeggings: H&M, Betsey Johnson jelly sandals: thrifted
I'm going to go right ahead and ask my digital self what the hell I'm doing in the first picture...seriously Charlie?! Are you not the daughter of a portrait photographer that has been subjected to the lens endlessly since the moment she popped out of the womb? Well, blah...I guess I'll have to deal with it seeing as it's the only picture I took that captures my entire outfit, and that's really all these posts are supposed to be about anyhow. Sometimes this whole fashion blogging thing still embarasses me. I don't know a lot of teenagers that go outside everyday to take a picture of their clothes. In fact, we have this French assignment where we need a picture of our favorite outfit and describe it, and my teacher told the class that she would allow them to go on facebook in the computer lab in order to find a picture of themselves wearing it. Well....it's probably going to be a whole hell of a lot easier for me to obtain one, eh? I'm still weary of the neighbors when taking these pictures. I know it kinda goes against my whole "don't give a shit" thing that I try and pretend about my personality, but SERIOUSLY I'M FRICKING TAKING PICTURES OF MYSELF. For instance, during today's photoshoot the neighbor lady went outside today to call her dogs in, and I immediately dropped to the ground and pretend to be entranced by a leaf. Sad, I know. Maybe one day I'll come to accept the fact that I'm conceited, but for now we'll just let me be a science nerd.
Anywho, on to the outfit. This amazing hippie tank dress was thrifted at Goodwill on my last shopping excursion and sums up everything I'm feeling about life at the moment. I had at least three people at school today tell me that they had one like it, my friend Rupa even made a point of mentioning hers was tie-dyed. Awesomeness to the max. I looked at the tag and it's all in Spanish, probably a souvenier from somebody's trip to Mexico. WELL YOU KNOW WHAT IT'S MINE NOW AND I'VE NEVER BEEN OUT OF THE COUNTRY SO NOW IT LOOKS LIKE I HAVE. I paired it with some simple accessories to highlight its magnificence, and as always my trusty pink Betsey Johnson jelly sandals from Value Village. I s'pose it's getting a bit chilly to continue dressing like my inner flower child, but as they often say, we Minnesota girls are tough.
Oh yes! I also finished the painting I was doing to enter in my local library's annual teen art contest:
Feedback?? I'm entering this along with a drawing I had on display at the Minneapolis Institute of Art's "Foot in the Door" exhibit last year. My theme is peacocks!
Guys, I really want a haircut. Something like a shaggy pixie cut. I've been growing my hair out since I started high school, but it's never been past my shoulderblades. Ever. Of course, last year I was like "Oh I'll grow my hair out so I can look like the Native American girl that I am. I'll admit, I really like how it looks in that one picture up there where I'm making a peace sign, but honestly I can never seem to let it get long because I just get sick of it and end up cutting it. The last time it was super short was when I was a "scene" kid and had that crazy teased hairstyle, soooo let's just say I'm past that era of my life. To be honest, I'm really afraid I'm gonna come out looking like I did when I cut my hair really short in eighth grade. That school picture is far too horrendous to ever see the light of day, it's trapped between the dusty yearbook pages on a forgotten bookshelf where it belongs. I'm most afraid, though, that it'll hurt my chances of getting cast in upcoming productions (such as the One Act! auditions are tomorrow betches! Wish me a broken leg!). Unfortunately, as an actress, it's expected that you look universal. Oh well. I'll let it be for now, we'll see what I decide in the months to come.
I guess it's about time to quite ignoring my homework, but I'll leave you with an adorable picture of my dog, solely for your viewing pleasure:

Don't Leave Meee!!!
Well it's opening week for the show and we're working our fingers to the bone trying to tie all the ends together. DON'T LEAVE ME!! I promise you I'll be back up and posting as soon as the play ends, which is on Sunday. It opened on Thursday and the first two shows went really well!! My hooker antics seemed to charm the audience quite a bit. We have two more shows tonight and tomorrow night: wish me a broken leg! But I guess I have to leave you with something, don't I?

It's Raining, It's Pouring
Hair clip: gift, Choker: DIY, Top: Kohl's, Scarf: gift from my dad, Skirt: thrifted, Shoes: Chuck Taylor
And half a millennium after I begin the picture upload process, they're all here (watch- I totally just jinxed myself). Okay maybe I'm exaggerating the slightest bit about the time, but I've seriously been at it for about two hours (which totally rounds up to half a millennium) on account of computer/internet/file issues that I'm not entirely qualified to diagnose myself. Too bad Mr. Jobs isn't here to give me a hand. Rest in peace, your majesty.
I have to say, though, I'm impressed with my persistence. Any normal attention deficit person probably would have gone down to her room and started doodling by now, but not this chica. She has determination! Or she's just desperate for blogging popularity.......
Anywho, I had the whole plan set up in my head for taking the tripod outside, because my room is the size of an oyster and frankly not very photogenic. But, as I leave rehearsal, what do you know? It's pouring buckets! So I had to settle for the indoor shots, and even if I didn't capture this outfit in all its glory I guess you could say it's here. Maybe the low-quality leaves an air of mystery, eh? What does that outfit REALLY look like? Hmmmm???? Okay I'm done.
And I know I've been horrible at talking about things other than outfits lately, and I really am sorry. I just find that the pesky upload process really wears me down and I'm just not in the mood for any more ramblings. But next time I don't have homework (which I don't tonight- OH EM GEE!) and the computer is being kind to me, I'll update y'all on my latest musings. But I'll leave ya for now. Have a good night.

Glee Started Last Night
I'm sure you know already, but if you don't, the title says it all. Yes!! My favorite show is back!! I'm ready to be inspired to no avail. If you haven't submitted to Gleeklihood yet, I'd advise you to start now....or forever hold your peace. Speaking of TV shows though, all of my other favorites are back on as well: Castle, Raising Hope, and the Middle and Modern Family start tonight!! Also, I discovered a new show that was on after Glee and I couldn't help but subscribing to it through Tivo. It's called New Girl and I absolutely, positively relate to it in every single aspect. Check it out, if you dare.
Oh, happy news! I found my mother's tripod this morning, meaning that starting tomorrow I will do my best to take some high-quality outfit photos (that is, if I can manage it before 7 AM band class starts). I was unable to start with it this morning, unfortunately, on account of my finding it just before walking out the door. I've yet to formulate a plan, I suppose you'll just have to wait and see. But now, without further ado, outfit:

Plaid button-up: Kohl's (boys section), Yellow tank top: Target, Robot necklace: Etsy, Jeans: H&M, Shoes: Converse
I suppose I'm still in that phase of what they would call a "budding" fashion blogger, meaning my first year or so of figuring things out (*cough* sucking *cough*) and having next to no readers. That's my excuse to try out new styles I guess (of blogging, I meant, but clothes too) so I'm gunna keep playing around with some of the things I do, and hopefully find some stuff I like! But that's the general rule of life, isn't it? The more you learn, the more you grow.
Out.

I'm a Hipster, and I'm Musing
(The title was a total Isabel Slone reference if you didn't pick up on it)
I had a couple outfit photos from the past few days that I regrettably am just now getting around to posting......
I had a couple outfit photos from the past few days that I regrettably am just now getting around to posting......
Monday's outfit:
Beret and jeggings: H&M, shirt and cardigan: Target, shoes: Heartbreaker
Today's outfit:
Beret: my childhood dress-up box, scarf and sandals: thrifted, shirt: Ragstock, cardigan: Target, jeans: H&M, suspenders: Hot Topic
My sincerest apologies for the double outfit post, but I've found it has become increasingly harder to update my blog regularly. I've been trying harder to photograph my outfits and post them on a day-to-day basis, but it has become much more difficult, what with theater, and the fact that I am currently managing to take seven classes a day, the latter including: College Prep Chemistry, Advanced Placement World History (which is essentially a college class), Advanced Algebra, French 2, Honors English, and two band classes, one of which begins at 7 AM. I am now relying solely on coffee and Sudafed to keep me alive, but I promise to keep the whining on the D.L. and continue to try my best.
On a happier note, I was talking with my dear friend Olivia yesterday (one of my favorite fashionistas, I daresay) and I seemed to get her hooked on the idea of starting her own fashion blog, which may or may not function as a sort of sister blog to HoneyDew. We would collaborate on our outfit photography, meaning I would finally be able to do away with the dreadful mirror shots (assuming I don't scavenge up a tripod by then), and also collaborate on our shoes collections, now that we've discovered we have have the exact same size feet. More updates on that in the near future, and also my homecoming pictures are soon to come (haha, funny on my part...kind of a pun there.....don't get it? oh....okay...) Stay tuned, if you dare, but for now have yourself a goodbye.

Will Probably Never Stop Changin'
So...uh...once again....I have changed the title and logo of my blog. As much I liked and was proud of the old one:
Something just didn't sit right with me about it. Not to mention I couldn't match the rest of the layout to it for shit....
I was doodling in class one day and drew up the simple yet adorable bird falling in love with the soda. It matched my quirky personality, but also fit with the cuteness of the blog. (Also goes nicely with the little "bird and french fry picture, don't cha think?) So huzzah! I have found my new logo:
I like being thought of as A Clockwork Mermaid. But a part of me wanted to name the blog, not myself. I was thinking one day about what I would name the memoir of my teenage years if I ever wrote one (which, DUH, I will, seeing as I'm going to famous!) and the word Honeydew just popped into my head. I don't recall ever tasting a honeydew. Or even knowing what it was for that matter, until a trip to google jogged my memory. But somehow, someway, it seemed to fit.
So one day I thought "Hey, why couldn't my blog be called HoneyDew?" It's basically a day-to-day recollection of me making my way through life. These years are important ones; I'm learning, discovering, laughing, and just living peacefully in that awkward phase between a child and a woman. And this life, I dare say, is as sweet as a honeydew must be :)

Busy Life=Abandoned Blog
Why does it seem like every post is an apology for never posting?! Ok, I'll make this one short and sweet, and just cut to the chase. Sorry. I don't know how I'll gather my dreamed loyal gathering of readers at this rate. Oh well. Live and learn, right? Well anyway, my musical just finished up and I don't know how to say it any other way than IT WAS ONE HELLUVA SHOW! It was Grease, so the bar was set pretty high. We completely pulled it off though! Aside from opening night, something went wrong with the cast each day we performed it. Our Danny lost his voice the second night, couldn't sing at all. Yup. No understudies either. Luckily, one of the other amazing T-Birds jumped in for him and performed his heart out. Couldn't have asked for a better group of actors to perform with. I and my onstage-boyfriend got to take second place at the "Hand Jive Dance Contest," which I daresay was the highlight of my individual performance. Anyway, the crowd loved it, it was a blast to put on, and it taught us how to navigate the sticky situations that stage theatre often presents. What more could we ask for in a show? I think all that's left to say now is: GREASE IS THE WORD!

Pre-prom scene dressing room shot. (I'm the one in the sky blue dress if you can't tell)
Oh the fantastic fifties.
One of my many weeknesses.

Consumed By Guilt....
I admit it. I'm terrible. I'm NOT dead, though I probably have many of you thinking otherwise. I promise that sooner or later I'll stop by for a long update, add some pictures from the lovely New Orleans (which, by the way, turned out to be the trip of a high school lifetime), and talk random stuff again. But for now, Adieu.
Oh and by the way, I turned 15 on the eleventh ;) GETTIN' OLDER GUYS!

When I realized that I actually wanted readers......
I've been blogging on livejournal since the dawn of time (ok, maybe only a year or so) but it took this long for it to hit me: I was creating a diary, not a blog. So do I want readers? Yessiree. Do I dream of the farfetched idea that I may become one of the great teen bloggers? Indeed. I'll admit it saddens me that some of my greatest blog moments will never be discovered, but I know in my heart that they will be preserved forever in another land. But I plan to create new spectacular writings and gain myself a few readers as well. Tis the season, right? Welcome to my new blog,
-Charlie
