"Everything's okay now, thanks to Misty the Mighty!"

Bandana: vintage, Lace cami: kohl's, Cardigan: Target, Ankh necklace: Minnesota Rennaisance Festival, Yellow shorts: Target, Misty button: Anime Detour, Tights: ?, Shoes: Chuck Taylor

So maybe it's not as authentic as when I cosplayed as her last spring, but this outfit is totally Misty inspired!

Yes, the one and only, the girl who gets way too much attention on this blog than can possibly be good for her redhead. As soon as I put this ensemble together, I thought of my idol. The quirky color combination and funky short-and-chucks pairing is SO her.

I will forever have that tiny little longing to be Misty, the dream that occurred from a very young age, and I still jump on every chance I get to dress like her. My wardrobe will always contain bits and pieces of Misty-esque garb (she was the reason I first bought red chucks at the ripe young age of eleven, shoes that have become a signature of mine for the past four years), and I still tend to get that inkling desire to quote her in certain conversations. She taught me that tough girls stand up for themselves, and that the best thing in the world is being a woman. So I guess these posts are always, well, odes to Misty, who inspired me to be who I am today, in style and in life.

I bought this at the convention this year, isn't it cute????

Here's an interesting challenge for all of you: do your own cartoon outfits! Put together an outfit inspired by your favorite cartoon character (not full-on cosplay, just an everyday casual outfit like I did above) Do a blog post about it and put a link to it in the comments! GEEKS UNITE!

Just a few Detour moments.....oh, and a little princess ranting

I attended Anime Detour last month, finally fulfilling my dream of becoming Misty, even for just a weekend. Words cannot express the kind of joy that came over me as random people would come up and say "MISTY!" with a hug. I was no longer Charlie for those three days, but my heroine since childhood. Oh, a dream come true.

The wig was from a random seller on Ebay. It was absolutely perfect! I got tons of people asking if it was my real hair and if so how I got it that bright XD Absolutely awesome. The rest of the clothes were just from places like Target and Value Village, so it really was an easy costume to put together. Then of course there's my togepi and my signature Converse (who says I wear red ones just cause Misty does??)

My goal for the weekend was to get a picture with an Ash (even if I did have to share him with a few other Mistys)

Team Kanto!

It was almost a must...... :)

I was lacking a Pokeball at this particular photoshoot, I think a fist works nicely instead :)

I think it's neccessary to mention that after being Misty, I simply can't get enough. I'll most likely go back as her in a future year to this convention, or just dress as her to school one day. Either way, I can now cross this off the list of things to do before I die :)

And just for fun, it was on the hotel wall :)

I know you're all wondering this, so I'll just come out and say it: yes, I DID watch the Royal Wedding at 6 AM yesterday :D Silly? Maybe. Am I a girl that classifies herself as a hopeless-romantic-dreamer? Yes. Do I like fashion? That should be obvious. So I really don't see any reason why I wouldn't WANT to watch the wedding, no matter how many people tell me that it was a waste of my time :)

I thought Kate Middleton(or Princess Catherine, as I now should say)'s dress was simple, yet so elegant! Perfect for this kind of event. It was very flattering but not in a sexy way, which is what I think is expected for the royals.

The best part of the wedding fashion? The hats!

I may not be British, but I can enjoy their fashions just as much as the royals do :) I guess that's all for now. Stay Sunny, World!

I wish my high school had a Glee Club

I didn't intend to become one originally, but like so many Americans I too have fallen under its spell. That's right, I'm a Gleek.

Of course its partly the high school show tunes that get me (I own the first two soundtrack albums), but also the humor! With characters like Sue and Brittney its nonstop clever lines that have me laughing until tears are streaming down my cheeks. The story also deals with the ordinary dramas of high school and teenage-dom (which I obviously can relate to) in a funny, exaggerated way. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend getting caught up online and then entering the cult of gleekage. You'll find it rather enjoyable, and maybe even be inspired to belt out your favorite old-school song onstage or (if you're a lucky one) join your school's glee club. I could go on about the story, but one thing I'd really like to showcase is the FASHION! From the funky-preppy wardrobe of the lovable gay Kurt to the gothic vampire princess styles of the shy girl Tina, Glee is chock full of interesting clothes. See for yourself:

And of course we mustn't forget the Lady Gaga episode! This pop goddess is one of my favorite style icons. Here are some of her gleeked up outfits:

Stylish inspiration for any time of person runs wild on that show. Another reason for you fashionistas to get into it! ;)

Oh yea, I also made a banner for my blog seeing as the generic header I had going for me before was, well, generic. Not to mention boring. Here's the new one (if you can't for some reason see the top of the blog?):

This wasn't my first time creating a banner either, I used to make fan banners all the time for my Misty shrine: Misty's Ocean Here are a couple of my favorites:
