Poetry Cafe - Flavor of the Day: Crossroad Lovers/Photos of life and random shiiizzz

Far beyond the mountaintops
Is where my home did lie
Past the far-stretched fields of green
Where airplanes often fly
All I have
Is on my back
Adventure in my heart
Little did I know that night
I'd find my missing part
You watched me from the windows
As I danced across the clouds
I stole a few shy glances but
To love was not allowed.
Sixty-odd young minds
All ripe with winsome glee
Did board a bus that afternoon,
Among them, you and me
Across the golden highways
Into the setting sun
We talked the endless hours away
As homebound wheels did run
It grew colder with every mile
We grew further as the sun was rising
And when we reached the horizon line
Our spark had all but died
So I swore that I'd forget you
I promised I'd go back
And pretend that what had happened
Had been nothing but the past
But somehow you did find me
And I'm glad I was willingly seeked
For our bud of love soon blossomed
As a lovely flower at peak

~by Me

I usually don't put anything else in the Poetry Cafe posts, but I figured I'd post some pictures of my recent life:

Kayla had some pink sparkly nail polish so in advisory class I stole it and painted my left hand.
JUST MY LEFT HAND.

Chemistry is boring except for when we make concoctions like this
(I know I'm always posting pictures of chem class, it's the only class I ever take my camera out for some reason. Probably cause I have it with so many neat chicas)

We went to Evan's the other day and decided to bake a ginormous batch of chocolate chip cookies. I don't really know what Sam is about to do to Maddie and frankly I'd rather not find out.

Ev and Sam....no idea what they're laughing about

Evan's sister Alannah got home so, naturally, we had to invade her room and start taking pictures

Still putting off my AP homework. And I'm sure I will be 'til 6 tonight.
Gotta stay consistent right?

Also, ever since Invasion of the Road Weenies I've been thoroughly obsessed with David Lubar's collections of strange, horrific, and downright hilarious tales. I just finished this one:

I would highly recommend them.

It's Raining, It's Pouring

Hair clip: gift, Choker: DIY, Top: Kohl's, Scarf: gift from my dad, Skirt: thrifted, Shoes: Chuck Taylor

And half a millennium after I begin the picture upload process, they're all here (watch- I totally just jinxed myself). Okay maybe I'm exaggerating the slightest bit about the time, but I've seriously been at it for about two hours (which totally rounds up to half a millennium) on account of computer/internet/file issues that I'm not entirely qualified to diagnose myself. Too bad Mr. Jobs isn't here to give me a hand. Rest in peace, your majesty.

I have to say, though, I'm impressed with my persistence. Any normal attention deficit person probably would have gone down to her room and started doodling by now, but not this chica. She has determination! Or she's just desperate for blogging popularity.......

Anywho, I had the whole plan set up in my head for taking the tripod outside, because my room is the size of an oyster and frankly not very photogenic. But, as I leave rehearsal, what do you know? It's pouring buckets! So I had to settle for the indoor shots, and even if I didn't capture this outfit in all its glory I guess you could say it's here. Maybe the low-quality leaves an air of mystery, eh? What does that outfit REALLY look like? Hmmmm???? Okay I'm done.

And I know I've been horrible at talking about things other than outfits lately, and I really am sorry. I just find that the pesky upload process really wears me down and I'm just not in the mood for any more ramblings. But next time I don't have homework (which I don't tonight- OH EM GEE!) and the computer is being kind to me, I'll update y'all on my latest musings. But I'll leave ya for now. Have a good night.

I'm a Hipster, and I'm Musing

(The title was a total Isabel Slone reference if you didn't pick up on it)

I had a couple outfit photos from the past few days that I regrettably am just now getting around to posting......

Monday's outfit:

Beret and jeggings: H&M, shirt and cardigan: Target, shoes: Heartbreaker

Today's outfit:

Beret: my childhood dress-up box, scarf and sandals: thrifted, shirt: Ragstock, cardigan: Target, jeans: H&M, suspenders: Hot Topic

My sincerest apologies for the double outfit post, but I've found it has become increasingly harder to update my blog regularly. I've been trying harder to photograph my outfits and post them on a day-to-day basis, but it has become much more difficult, what with theater, and the fact that I am currently managing to take seven classes a day, the latter including: College Prep Chemistry, Advanced Placement World History (which is essentially a college class), Advanced Algebra, French 2, Honors English, and two band classes, one of which begins at 7 AM. I am now relying solely on coffee and Sudafed to keep me alive, but I promise to keep the whining on the D.L. and continue to try my best.

On a happier note, I was talking with my dear friend Olivia yesterday (one of my favorite fashionistas, I daresay) and I seemed to get her hooked on the idea of starting her own fashion blog, which may or may not function as a sort of sister blog to HoneyDew. We would collaborate on our outfit photography, meaning I would finally be able to do away with the dreadful mirror shots (assuming I don't scavenge up a tripod by then), and also collaborate on our shoes collections, now that we've discovered we have have the exact same size feet. More updates on that in the near future, and also my homecoming pictures are soon to come (haha, funny on my part...kind of a pun there.....don't get it? oh....okay...) Stay tuned, if you dare, but for now have yourself a goodbye.

Sundays Suck

I think the beauty of Minnesota weather is that it never fails to defy everybody's wishes. Last spring, when we all hopelessly prayed for spring to conquer the endless winter, it didn't get warm until, oh, maybe end of May? And now, when we all want to cuddle up in our glorious layers and welcome fall with open arms, it remains an unwavering 80 degrees every day. I always use summer as an excuse to completely slack off in the fashion department, but now I really AM ready to get back into dressing better. I guess I know I can always count on a painfully long winter to make me crave spring again, so I'll be patient for the time being. And I also can count on the spell check on my father's iPad to let me slack off even more (before getting down and dirty with my English homework, of course. Oh man. That sounded awful. Sorry. Even though you know I'm not actually sorry)

This post was more of a talker one, but somehow they never really feel complete without images of some sort, so I'm going to scour my facebook page for pictures to commemorate my start of school.

Here's one of my best friends, Lee, wearing my favorite giant bow

And Maddie

......and Nayib

Although it took efforts such as these to get it onto his head

Oh yeah, I've also been working on my "Dreamcave" (a cool way of saying tiny teen girl basement bedroom) because I needed a change and I just bought a really cool wall clock on Etsy. No internet fellow can see it until it's actually done, but I will post a photo of this:

This is my nightstand, aka shelf that is functioning as a nightstand because my room is the size of a pocky box.
It's probably my favorite part of the room.
The little clock guy is Mitsubishi. Like a baby, he does not sleep through the night.
I also have some Gothic and Lolita Bibles, an awesome vintage Wonder Woman book, novels like Jane Eyre, Pet Semetary, and other random things to read, a little Neopets Aisha doll, a tray with some spiritual objects, stress relieving pillow mist, and a far too normal looking picture of Sam and me at prom. You can also see some pendants hanging down from the shelf above, which prompts me to also post a picture of the "Spiritual Shelf"

I have some books, my tarot cards, candles that I never burn in there, a voodoo doll from New Orleans, orbs, and a mini buddha statue

I guess the insane length of this so-called "mostly talker post" is due mainly to my Sunday boredom blahs (and the complete desire to avoid homework), but hey, it's been awhile

My lazy, entirely Target ensemble, and yes I know I wear the Beatles shirt waaaaay too often in these photos. Maybe there's just something about wearing such an uplifting band over your heart that uplifts your spirit as well. We'll never know.
I got a haircut as well, if you can't tell
(uh oh! Look! I lied! You get a little sneak peek of my room!)

I guess that's all for now.

Oh but P.S. I've been completely addicted to reading every single one of Isabel Slone's fabulous posts over at Hipster Musings? Check her out if you get the chance! (she's like me only older, better, and more fashionable)

Falling back in time.....and artists are messy creatures

Quite a bit of red in my wardrobe, wouldn't you say?

Also, this is the floor of my room in its current state:

I might have cleaned a bit since this shot was taken, and by cleaning I mean moving the messenger bag to the other corner.

And yes Potter fans, that is a Ravenclaw tie on the floor ;)

In between the vomiting.....

No, I'm not cutting class to sneak down to the computer lab and update my blog. I am, however, home sick. That part I don't mind so much, it's nice to have a chance to laze around on the couch once in awhile. The part that really gets me was that the day I had to come down with a fever, the only day of the year thus far, was FIFTIES DAY at school. I had on my cutest A-line summer dress, a belt as wide as the Golden Gate bridge, my hair curled to no end, and was just about to slick on my cherry-red lipstick when wouldn't you know? I collapse with a migraine and start vomiting all over the place. I had to reassure my mom that "no, I was not drinking last night," brush out my curls (the saddest part), and hop in the bathtub. Oh, and miss the 8:00 bell of course. But that was a given ;) Anyway, to cure my boredom and please the general public, I'm here to blog. And post a stupid picture that cracks me up every time I see it.

Oh yeah, and here's a nice fashion quote straight from my personal life: "CHARLIEEEE are you wearing a tube top around your waist again?!"

That will be all.

Headin' Out

Got a short one today, guys. I suppose I just wanted to brag about the fact that I'm going to New Orleans on thursday with my high school's concert band! I play the alto saxophone, and I've been looking forward to this trip for months. I promise photos when I get home, and if you don't get any, nag me :P Anyways, that's all I really had to say.

See you Sunday!

The Return of Ms. Mermaid

Yes, go ahead....punish me. I'm terrible at being consistent. I wake up every morning and usually think something about posting, but then I get caught up in the wonders of the day and, what do you know, it's over. Actually, I SHOULD be sleeping right now, but you'll all come to learn that I'm somewhat of an insomniac. At least my life hasn't been boring while I was away, in fact, just the opposite! Second semester started at school, bringing with it a rearranged schedule, a new teacher, and a lot of new friends. I really am starting to love going to school, even if I am still just a lowly freshman. Now what else happened? Hmmm....well...let's think.....OH YEAH! I got into Grease! My audition went smoothly, along with the callbacks, and I landed myself a role in the ensemble. Disappointed? Not in the least! There were no freshmen cast into roles outside the ensemble, and I'm perfectly content with being in the background for most of the scenes, singing, and dancing. Even if acting is my forte, it's only my first year of high school. Gotta start somewhere, right? Anyway, it's pretty exciting. I would invite you all to the show buuuuut that would entail giving away the name of my high school, and that's not something that was neccessarily on my agenda. Perhaps when I'm rich and famous ;)

On another note, I thought I would go ahead and blog a little about the movie that I FINALLY got out to go and see today! I'd been wanting to see Black Swan since the minute I read a magazine article about it, and I will say that it most certainly lived up to my expectations.

The movie follows ballerina Nina as she is cast as the Swan Queen in Swan Lake, and proceeds to "become" the Black Swan as her character does in the show. It was a psychological thriller, which is definately one of my favorite kinds of movies. Being an avid horror movie lover, I enjoyed the suspense and darkness that was present throughout the entire film. It's one of those stories that bounces in and out of reality, where you can almost be driven crazy just by watching it. I won't say that it didn't have me cringing at some of the bloodier parts (I have sensitive nails, ok?), but it was definately worth it. Not to mention Natalie Portman was FANTASTIC.

The Black Swan costume was gorgeous; I won't deny that I've always been a fan of ballet dresses. Tutus make regular appearances in my every day outfits :)

I love the fact that something so terrifying spawned from something so beautiful- it made the whole movie much more enjoyable in the visual aspect
