Poetry Cafe - Flavor of the Day: Crossroad Lovers/Photos of life and random shiiizzz

Far beyond the mountaintops
Is where my home did lie
Past the far-stretched fields of green
Where airplanes often fly
All I have
Is on my back
Adventure in my heart
Little did I know that night
I'd find my missing part
You watched me from the windows
As I danced across the clouds
I stole a few shy glances but
To love was not allowed.
Sixty-odd young minds
All ripe with winsome glee
Did board a bus that afternoon,
Among them, you and me
Across the golden highways
Into the setting sun
We talked the endless hours away
As homebound wheels did run
It grew colder with every mile
We grew further as the sun was rising
And when we reached the horizon line
Our spark had all but died
So I swore that I'd forget you
I promised I'd go back
And pretend that what had happened
Had been nothing but the past
But somehow you did find me
And I'm glad I was willingly seeked
For our bud of love soon blossomed
As a lovely flower at peak

I usually don't put anything else in the Poetry Cafe posts, but I figured I'd post some pictures of my recent life:

Kayla had some pink sparkly nail polish so in advisory class I stole it and painted my left hand.
JUST MY LEFT HAND.

Chemistry is boring except for when we make concoctions like this
(I know I'm always posting pictures of chem class, it's the only class I ever take my camera out for some reason. Probably cause I have it with so many neat chicas)

We went to Evan's the other day and decided to bake a ginormous batch of chocolate chip cookies. I don't really know what Sam is about to do to Maddie and frankly I'd rather not find out.

Ev and Sam....no idea what they're laughing about

Evan's sister Alannah got home so, naturally, we had to invade her room and start taking pictures

Still putting off my AP homework. And I'm sure I will be 'til 6 tonight.
Gotta stay consistent right?

Also, ever since Invasion of the Road Weenies I've been thoroughly obsessed with David Lubar's collections of strange, horrific, and downright hilarious tales. I just finished this one:

I would highly recommend them.

The Full Moon Peeks at Me Over the Treetops

Beret: H&M, Scarves: gifts, Necklaces: Minnesota Rennaisance Festival, Black lace top: H&M, Skirt: Target, Leggings: Old Navy, Combat boots: thrifted

I truly have nothing to say today.

And the sad thing is that my ambition in life is to be a writer.

I guess high school classes really do destroy your creative brain cells.

I feel like I should start naming my outfits like a real fashion blogger.....

Okay. This one's name is "I should invest in a tripod"

Headband, cardigan, and shirt: Target (I've noticed that target makes a regular appearance in these), necklace: Ebay, jeans: H&M, socks: American Eagle, combat boots: thrifted

Notice my somewhat new cartilage piercings?

Today's outfit was mostly built around the vintage-looking Japanese Coca-cola shirt, because it's homecoming spirit week and our school colors are red and white. (That's right- art freaks can have spirit too!) The sparrow necklace was a recent purchase from Ebay- I loved how they looked and what they symbolized, but couldn't find one in any stores. Oh yes, and in the great rush I was in this morning, I settled for the pathetically-amateur-yet-surprisingly-flattering mirror photo. Gotta do what you gotta do, right?

On an entirely unrelated note, have you ever thought of a really cool title for something and considered writing a book and/or blog about it JUST as an excuse to use the name? Happens to me as a writer more often than I'd like. For instance: I have no desire to start a breast information blog, or write a book for that matter, but just TRY telling me that it wouldn't be completely awesome to own something called "The Nitty Gritty on Titties." No? Well there's more where that came from stored up in this mind o' mine. I'm sure the mere existence of this post will inspire some for you, too, so be sure to share them in the comments! (Unless of course you are truly considering a blog/book on the topic that your title is about....in that case, you can keep it to yourself until you become famous)

Oh dear. Now my dreams will be filled with titles, so help me God. But hey! Maybe some of them will work for outfits? Yeah........that will be all.

Poetry Cafe - Flavor of the Day: Coconut Kisses

Awakened by peppermint roses
With sparkling lemondrop dew
Bathing in watermelon sunrise
And a coconut kiss or two
Mother gently rises
From her bed of strawberry seeds
Humming a tune of vanilla
In a dress of cinnamon reeds
She drapes us in daffodil petals
Wraps juniper sprigs in our hair
Feeds us bowls of sugarmilk pudding
Gives coconut kisses with care
We pack up our silver leaf satchels
Prepare for the journey ahead
Take one last look at the sweet blossom trees
At our mother with cheeks rosy red
She let us bloom into flowers
Now sets us into the free
But not without her honey-filled heart
And a coconut kiss just for me

Poetry Cafe - Flavor of the Day: Somewhere Else

Imagine yourself somewhere else
Among whistling birds and cocoa shells
The place where all things good are true
Where sun shines bright each day anew
This land where Heaven's kiss does reach
With walls that evil cannot breach
The winds of love do blow by night
Whispering tunes so pure and light
On golden wings your soul will fly
For wings of gold will never die
All thoughts of doubt are sure to melt
When you imagine yourself somewhere else

Dear Goddess of Wisdom Please Tell Charlie To Write

So the funny thing is that despite all this hype about making New Year's resolutions (and keeping them), I haven't been able to keep one simple promise to myself. My mind is a storage closet of various energy and random clumps of thoughts, and if I don't have a means of expressing them then I'm, to put it simply, DOOMED. My dream to become a successful writer looms in the distance like the North Star and I ever so slowly sail my ship toward it. Did I mention that the ship is glittery and adorned with bows? But enough of that, my point is that I need to follow my own advice and write one poem a day every day. I've come to admire the complex simplicity that exists within the haiku style of poetry. 5-7-5. Is that so hard to do, Charlie? Perhaps you should do one right this very minute to remind yourself.

Charlie roams astray
Forgetting things so simple
Like writing haiku

Well now, two birds with one stone. I've fulfilled my requirement for today. Now only a lifetime more to go.....
