They should really send me to Oddball Academy

AC/DC t-shirt: gift from my dad, Pants: Delia's, Bandana: vintage, Knockoff Keds: Target

One of the reasons I wore this outfit was because I thought it would provide a funny contrast, I was supposed to read a poem I wrote aloud to my English class this morning and this particular poem is all sweet and fluffy. Perfect juxtaposition to my inner punk. But, as it happened, I left my backpack in my advisory class the hour before English. DON'T EVEN ASK ME HOW. But I did. My advisor also happens to be one of the school social workers, meaning that when she's not teaching our class she's out patrolling the hallways. So of course the door to her classroom was locked and I ended up having to track my backpack down instead of reading my poem. I'm reading it tomorrow but still.....UGH. Not a good way to begin the school day.

Anywho, back to the outfit. My dad brought me the shirt from an AC/DC concert he went to a few years back. I'm not as big a fan as he is, but their songs totally get me pumped and rocking. Classic rock never dies, in my book. These are probably the coolest and most comfortable pants I own, when I saw them in the Delia's catalog I ordered them right away. In a way, they're relics from my "scene kid" days, but along with a lot of those clothes I still find them awesome today (though thankfully I've become way more original in my choice of attire).

So for French, we're currently at work on an awesome project that involves creating a fashion tv show of some sort. My teacher has a dress-up box in her classroom (I know right?!), and today she brought in a bag of whacky clothes to add to it, so of course instead of writing out the script like we were supposed to, my group had a photoshoot in the costumes......

Featuring Molly and Dan, in all their glory
Also I really really really REALLY wanted to steal that floral blazer and fruit sweater
But I love my French class. So I didn't.

Tomorrow is 11/11/11, and I still have no idea what to wish for.

The Blahful Days of Winter Have Begun

IT'S CALLED BEING TOO LAZY AND TOO COLD TO SET UP A TRIPOD

Dress: thrifted, Corset: DOTS, Scarf: thrifted, Beret: H&M, Black top: H&M, Black skirt: thrifted, Shoes: Chuck Taylor

As I was leaving French class 5th period today, my teacher cried "J'aime tes chaussures rouges!!"
It means, "I like your red shoes!!"
I've had her since the beginning of freshman year. I've worn red Chucks all that time.
But it was still pretty cool :)

To compliment my habit of rapid topic changing, Maddie, Mary, and I took Hiro, the Japanese exchange student, thrifting at Goodwill today after school. (We made a pit stop at Dairy Queen beforehand so that he could get the full experience of American consumer culture, and also to play along with his observation of "A lot of people in this country are fat....")

We got a very decent amount of browsing in, and I'm happy to say that I have a new friend. Also, perhaps just as exciting (KIDDING!), I got a couple new tops:

If only it was summer and I could wear that hippie tank dress everyday......well, there's always pretending. Despite the fact that we're supposed to get snow sometime this week.....*tears*

Oh yes, one more thing, as promised here is my Rosie the Reaper costume:
(and featuring Maddie as a zombie colorguardian)

Which was my REAL costume!! That Amy Winehouse gettup was just a last minute pre-Halloween cast party outfit.
Anywho, apparently my neighbor took her son trick-or-treating at my house (I was already at my friend's, mind you) and according to my mother SHE WAS DRESSED AS ROSIE THE RIVETER TOO! Gah I wish I could have witnessed this amazing coincidence. Then perhaps I would have a picture of the twin Rosies as proof for y'all.
But I guess you'll have to take my word for it, as always.
PEACE.

BOO!

Stars and Moons Top: thrifted, Scarf: gift, Necklaces: Minnesota Rennaisance Festival, Cockroach ring: Halloween cupcake, Jeggings: H&M, Gladiator shoes: ICING

Basically, I was a lucky little bee-atch, and I got the day after Halloween off for parent teacher conferences. THE DAY AFTER HALLOWEEN! It was just a random Tuesday. Not a monday, not a friday, but a fucking Tuesday and whaddya know? I get to spend All Hallow's Eve with the four best ladies I know. So cool. Anywho, this is what I wore to school on the day of Halloween. My local Value Village has the single greatest Halloween selections I've ever seen from a store in my life, and while I was browsing the racks for my Rosie the Riveter jumpsuit, I happened upon this much-too-large amazing blouse and absolutely had to purchase it (there was also a gold button-up Optimus Prime shirt, but it was much too small. Sad.) Pair it with my sparkly Forever 21 scarf, a glittery cockroach ring from a cheap Halloween cupcake, my Wiccan pendants, and the gladiator sandals I got on sale for six dollars, and I was all set to spook the living cows out of my peers.

On another note, my cast party on Friday night was a costume party, and since I hadn't made it over to the thrift store to pick up my real Halloween costume, I had to do a little improv with the contents of my own closet. My friend Raymond was trying on some of my clothes and he put on this long black wig that was supposed to be for a Native American girl costume, but I bought a few years back so I could dress up as a geisha in a United Nations costume contest for school (which I won, by the way. 15 dollars to Best Buy. Fashion pays, I tell ya). Anywho, we put him in a black dress, oversized sunglasses, and put a big bump in the wig and called him Snooki. He got self-conscious though, so I changed the bump to a half-beehive, put on some cat-eye eyeliner, wore Maddie's fake tattoo sleeve and VOILA! I was Amy Winehouse. Here are some crappy photobooth pictures that I took at 1 in the morning when I got home:

That's all I'll do for now. I'll post pictures of my "Rosie the Reaper" costume that I wore for actual Halloween and hopefully get a few shots of me in my hooker outfit for The Adding Machine up as well. Oh yeah, one more thing, being the horror movie freak that I am, I saw Paranormal Activity 3 today

OOOOOHHHH

Rosie the Reaper

So the long awaited post has finally arrived.....
I know you've all been wondering impatiently what I'm going to be for Halloween, and I have settled on a choice!
I'm going to be.......
Rosie the Reaper!
(like the title says, yeah crazy right)

Some of you may be wondering what the hell a costume like that entails, and I can assure you it probably won't stray too far from what you're currently imagining. If you're a diligent reader of this blog you may know by now that I am quite the fan of Rosie the Riveter, from the World War 2 "We can do it!" poster. When it comes to people I idolize, well, let's just say my looks never really match theirs, therefore making it hard to dress as them. Rosie's the first that I can truly say I resemble, and I'm gonna continue to hold onto her tough-girl attitude for the rest of my days. Okay, back to the costume. When it comes to costumes I like things that are unique, clever, appealing to my interests, and with a touch of scary (it is All Hallows Eve, after all). Rosie the Reaper will be a cross of this:

 And this:

You know, get the blue jumpsuit, the red headscarf. Then paint my face, carry a scythe, yadda yadda yadda. Dorky I know, but fun? Absolutely! So for this year, if you don't have a costume yet, consider doing something a little more clever. I guarantee you won't match anyone else at your Halloween parties!

I wear this bandana to school quite a bit. The other day my friend Molly, without having any prior knowledge, of my fandom or my Halloween costume intentions, said "You look like Rosie the Riveter!" So I simply had to take a picture.

Out.

Comin' Home

I always feel like such a generic teen girl when I post pictures of myself at school dances. Aren't I supposed to be an anti-social cave dweller who hates popular, normal-people activities? No. As a matter of fact, I love people, and I love my school. Also, it's fun to stand out in a sea of average at these things. This was one of the most fun photoshoots I've ever done, and now I'm going to bother you with my pathetic teenage-girldom. Put up your estrogen shields. It's gonna be a bumpy ride.

Photo credits go to my mother (a professional portrait photographer), the other parents, and Maddie (the girl in the blue dress who is with me in many photos)

This was homecoming by the way. I think I forgot to mention that earlier.

Dress: Ragstock for $20, Shoes: ICING for $6
