Rosie the Reaper

So the long awaited post has finally arrived.....
I know you've all been wondering impatiently what I'm going to be for Halloween, and I have settled on a choice!
I'm going to be.......
Rosie the Reaper!
(like the title says, yeah crazy right)

Some of you may be wondering what the hell a costume like that entails, and I can assure you it probably won't stray too far from what you're currently imagining. If you're a diligent reader of this blog you may know by now that I am quite the fan of Rosie the Riveter, from the World War 2 "We can do it!" poster. When it comes to people I idolize, well, let's just say my looks never really match theirs, therefore making it hard to dress as them. Rosie's the first that I can truly say I resemble, and I'm gonna continue to hold onto her tough-girl attitude for the rest of my days. Okay, back to the costume. When it comes to costumes I like things that are unique, clever, appealing to my interests, and with a touch of scary (it is All Hallows Eve, after all). Rosie the Reaper will be a cross of this:

 And this:

You know, get the blue jumpsuit, the red headscarf. Then paint my face, carry a scythe, yadda yadda yadda. Dorky I know, but fun? Absolutely! So for this year, if you don't have a costume yet, consider doing something a little more clever. I guarantee you won't match anyone else at your Halloween parties!

I wear this bandana to school quite a bit. The other day my friend Molly, without having any prior knowledge, of my fandom or my Halloween costume intentions, said "You look like Rosie the Riveter!" So I simply had to take a picture.

Out.

I have a disability, it's called textbooks

Pepper shirt: borrowed from Maddie, Beret: H&M, Tank top: Target, Jeans: H&M, Combat boots: thrifted

I love peppers. Maddie's grandma gave her the pepper shirt and we've decided to form a Sisterhood of the Traveling Pepper Shirt within our little group of friends. It's thoroughly wonderful. And it smells nice. Today Laura told me I was hot in the literal sense, cause I have peppers on my shirt. Ah ha! :D Okay no more lameness. Well, by my standards at least......

Anywho, I don't do that many inspiration posts, but the Balenciaga spring collection is SLIGHTLY drool worthy....

I would ingest llama sperm to get my hands on the skirt in the second picture and the shirt in the third. (I can't envision a situation in which a designer would give me clothes in exchange for my ingestion of llama sperm, but we'll pretend that this one is a rich fashion junkie with a grotesque sense of humor)

I know I often have posts containing at least three completely random topics, but I watched Glee tonight and simply had to post this video:

My favorite tv show and a feminist scene?
Must be my lucky day.

You want more fans, I want more stage

This song is called "Anyone Else But You" by the Moldy Peaches
It's become somewhat of an anthem for me and Sam's relationship

These McQueen shoes have a steampunk feel to them. Steampunk fashions:

And now for some inspiration

I adore the sound of bagpipes, especially when they play Amazing Grace
That guy up there is actually me. In a past life.

Had this for dinner tonight, and it never fails to inspire creativity

I read about this t-shirt online and how JCPenney had to remove it from their girls line after they got complaints about its message. That makes me happy.
The world just got a little more feminist :)

Or maybe just a little more geeky.

(speaking of feminism, I went out for a drive today for the first time after getting my permit on Tuesday and anyone who saw me would agree that I'm living proof of the long-debated fact: women are better drivers than men)

Out.
