The greatest crazies are the ones around you

Yesterday, I finally got downtown to check out an art exhibit I've been wanting to see since I read about it in the local newspaper: the St. Paul College of Visual Arts was displaying a compilation of the works of Minnesota women in the field of graphic design and advertising. Being a female arteest myself, I simply had to go take a peak. Unfortunately, the exhibit ended yesterday, or I would urge all you locals to go have a look. But here are some pictures, almost as good as the real thing!

The pictures took about two hours to upload, hopefully they were worth it.
Now time to tackle my miserably complex French homework.
Also, after all this hype about the Hunger Games I've finally decided to check out the series for myself.
I have book ADD though. So we'll see how it goes.

A Teenager's Bedroom Is Like a Cave Built out of Sheer Dreams

I've always had a fascination with where people live. Especially artsy and creative people like those depicted in this post. I think teen bedrooms are the most interesting, because they contain everything the person owns crammed into a small space and arranged in a way that displays their personality, not neccessarily in a way that pleases people. Of course, not all of these pictures are teen bedrooms like the title may fool you into thinking (I made up that quote just for future reference. It's Charlie with an I-E), in fact at least half of them are from a website called The Selby, which is the work of a man called Todd Selby who scours the world for creative folk and goes into their houses to photograph their dwellings. I read about him in one of my mom's photography magazines about a year ago and have been following his website ever since. These pictures are a compilation of some of my favorite bedrooms/houses that I've collected and have inspired countless projects in my own room. Hope you enjoyed, and maybe you'll be inspired to do something a little more creative with the space you have.

And just for shits and giggles, I had to include a picture of Juno in her room, which is the classic creative teen dwelling:

"Everything's okay now, thanks to Misty the Mighty!"

Bandana: vintage, Lace cami: kohl's, Cardigan: Target, Ankh necklace: Minnesota Rennaisance Festival, Yellow shorts: Target, Misty button: Anime Detour, Tights: ?, Shoes: Chuck Taylor

So maybe it's not as authentic as when I cosplayed as her last spring, but this outfit is totally Misty inspired!

Yes, the one and only, the girl who gets way too much attention on this blog than can possibly be good for her redhead. As soon as I put this ensemble together, I thought of my idol. The quirky color combination and funky short-and-chucks pairing is SO her.

I will forever have that tiny little longing to be Misty, the dream that occurred from a very young age, and I still jump on every chance I get to dress like her. My wardrobe will always contain bits and pieces of Misty-esque garb (she was the reason I first bought red chucks at the ripe young age of eleven, shoes that have become a signature of mine for the past four years), and I still tend to get that inkling desire to quote her in certain conversations. She taught me that tough girls stand up for themselves, and that the best thing in the world is being a woman. So I guess these posts are always, well, odes to Misty, who inspired me to be who I am today, in style and in life.

I bought this at the convention this year, isn't it cute????

Here's an interesting challenge for all of you: do your own cartoon outfits! Put together an outfit inspired by your favorite cartoon character (not full-on cosplay, just an everyday casual outfit like I did above) Do a blog post about it and put a link to it in the comments! GEEKS UNITE!

It's Raining, It's Pouring

Hair clip: gift, Choker: DIY, Top: Kohl's, Scarf: gift from my dad, Skirt: thrifted, Shoes: Chuck Taylor

And half a millennium after I begin the picture upload process, they're all here (watch- I totally just jinxed myself). Okay maybe I'm exaggerating the slightest bit about the time, but I've seriously been at it for about two hours (which totally rounds up to half a millennium) on account of computer/internet/file issues that I'm not entirely qualified to diagnose myself. Too bad Mr. Jobs isn't here to give me a hand. Rest in peace, your majesty.

I have to say, though, I'm impressed with my persistence. Any normal attention deficit person probably would have gone down to her room and started doodling by now, but not this chica. She has determination! Or she's just desperate for blogging popularity.......

Anywho, I had the whole plan set up in my head for taking the tripod outside, because my room is the size of an oyster and frankly not very photogenic. But, as I leave rehearsal, what do you know? It's pouring buckets! So I had to settle for the indoor shots, and even if I didn't capture this outfit in all its glory I guess you could say it's here. Maybe the low-quality leaves an air of mystery, eh? What does that outfit REALLY look like? Hmmmm???? Okay I'm done.

And I know I've been horrible at talking about things other than outfits lately, and I really am sorry. I just find that the pesky upload process really wears me down and I'm just not in the mood for any more ramblings. But next time I don't have homework (which I don't tonight- OH EM GEE!) and the computer is being kind to me, I'll update y'all on my latest musings. But I'll leave ya for now. Have a good night.
